Biography

“ROUH” روح Project by ForFann Cairo has been known as a cultural hub for literary and artistic activities and events in all its forms. It has always been the capital of culture and arts in Egypt and the Arab World and a small model of the Arab World in its cultural and heritage diversity. It is also the destination for a big number of local and international cultural and arts amateurs and professionals and a focal point for art lovers in Egypt, the Arab World and the World at large. However, this cultural role is slowly disappearing and the artistic and cultural taste of the Egyptian society, especially children and youth, is declining because of the emergence of a large number of fast-moving businesses that do not meet the minimum standards of quality of fine art and thus lead to a decline in the cultural level and low artistic public taste of society as well as leaving behind the cultural and artistic heritage of the society. Based on the above and according to our beliefs that arts and culture are among the most powerful tools in human development as well as the development of communities and societies; the idea of ROUH saw the light. While ForFann centers (both in Maadi and Down town Cairo) provide a wide range of arts lessons; and in alignment with our mission to contribute to the improvement of the quality of art that is being offered to the general public and to give the real image of art as an ultimate value in the simplest way; “ROUH” will provide professional artistic product with a main aim of presenting quality arts to the general public. “ROUH”, which means “soul” in English, is a music project that includes three different bodies able to perform different forms of musical expressions: - An Orchestra: that includes professional musicians. The volume of the orchestra (number of musicians) can vary to fit different set-ups and types of performance. - A Choir: a group of amateurs being trained on a professional level and presenting a wide range of music programs in alignment with the center’s vision and values. - A vocal ensemble: a smaller and professional version of the ROUH choir that can serve different music purposes (choir singing, quartet, solo, operetta, etc.)
