Glissade

Raised at the crossroads of suburban and southern Georgia, Glissade has been reached by the cultural bleed through of Atlanta while living in Roswell/Marietta, Georgia, and spending summers in Albany, Georgia helped form a basis of Southern hip hop that fills your heart and ears like the sound of cicadas clouding the swelteringly thick south Georgia air. The isolation experienced while growing up in the suburbs cultivated a needed appreciation for ambient and electronic sounds that blanket you in comforting shadows. With an emphasis on earnest expression over virtuosity, Glissade strikes a fine balance between emotive resonance, wit, and hard-nosed rhymes over beats that sound like pulsating waves of psychedelic darkness and bliss, akin to gliding through a car wash without the car. Beats that draw from elements of the natural world, whether it be a dusty barren desert, engulfing waves crashing into rocky walls, or lush waterfalls buried in a rainforest. With thoughtful, personal lyrics that touch on an array of themes such as death, isolation, personal growth, and a craving for community outside the harsh confines of capitalism, Glissade's mission is clear, to share and evoke.
