Albert Schweitzer war ein deutsch-französischer Arzt, der heute als „Urwald-Arzt“ bekannt ist. Er wurde im Jahr 1875 im Elsass geboren. Diese Gegend gehörte damals zum Deutschen Reich und kam danach wieder an Frankreich. Sein Vater war evangelischer Pfarrer.
