David va devoir affronter les conséquences de son péché et, pour mettre fin à ce fléau, il va offrir un holocauste. Un sacrifice qui préfigure un autre événement majeur dans l’histoire du Salut. 

David va commettre un péché en ordonnant un recensement. Comme châtiment divin, Dieu va lui demander de choisir entre trois fléaux.
