NASA spacecraft gets close to the Sun

A NASA spacecraft has made history by surviving the closest-ever approach to the Sun. The Parker Solar Probe plunged into the Sun's outer atmosphere on Christmas Eve, enduring brutal temperatures and extreme radiation in a quest to better our understanding of how the Sun works. 

Fall in number of organ donations

The Health Service Executive has published its annual report for Organ Donation Transplants in Ireland. The figures are down slightly from 2023, and of the 263 transplants, 175 of them were kidney transplants. 

Renewed calls for a ceasefire in Gaza after a year of bloodshed and displacement

Israeli airstrikes on the Gaza Strip overnight killed at least 20 people, Palestinian medics have said. One of the airstrikes hit a tent camp in Al-Mawasi with eight people being killed including two children. Margaret Harris from the WHO joined us to discuss the latest.
